What Fodor’s, Frommer's, and our Guests Have to Say about Us
Being one of the most recommended boutique hotels for comfortable, spacious and excellent accommodations, Hotel Bougainvillea dedicates to grant quality services and the comfort to our guests. The subsequent are just some samplings of what our guests and guidebooks have to say about us.
notes down:
“You might forget that you're only 15 minutes from San José on the Bougainvillea's extensive grounds amid the coffee farms East of Santo Domingo de Heredia. The spacious, carpeted guest rooms are furnished with local hardwoods and have large balconies; be sure to get one with a view of the gardens behind the hotel, which are shaded by large trees and hold an extensive bromeliad collection. Pre-Columbian pottery and paintings by Costa Rican artists decorate the lobby and restaurant, which serves a small but excellent selection of Continental cuisine. Mailing address: Apdo. 69-2120, San José,
Costa Rica.“
writes:
“The Hotel Bougainvillea is an excellent choice -- a great value if you're looking for a hotel in a quiet residential neighborhood not far from downtown. It offers most of the amenities of the more expensive resort hotels around the Central Valley, but it charges considerably less. The views across the valley from this hillside location are wonderful, and the gardens are beautifully designed and well tended. In fact, the bird-watching is pretty good in the hotel's relatively expansive gardens. Rooms are carpeted and have small triangular balconies oriented to the views. Although there is no air-conditioning, there are fans, and temperatures rarely get too hot here.
Facilities
Restaurant; bar; midsize outdoor pool in attractive garden; 2 outdoor lighted tennis courts; sauna; tour desk; business center; limited room service; babysitting; laundry service; nonsmoking rooms“

Thanks to all of you who have commented about us!
• Here's an image I captured in your fabulous gardens last Sunday morning right before I had to leave Costa Rica. It's the beautiful Blue-Crowned Motmot that resides on your grounds. What a terrific bird, and what a great way to end another fabulous stay in my favorite destination!!
Pura Vida, mi amigos!!
